So with STO really dissappointing me, I have every intention of going back to Eve online.
In Eve I ran a very succesful corporation and even turned down being named executor of an alliance to pursue ventures with the Fifth Fleet.
I still have a lot of corporate assets stockpiled and a good corp system ready to put into place again. (Kept it all in case of my return)
I have spoken with CEO Tral about my intentions and am concidering Starting the Eve Online Chapter of 5D gaming.
I wanted to get an idea of who else would be interested in becoming a member of this chapter.
Eve is 14.95 per month with no initial purchase required but you also have the option to buy game time with in game currency and I know several people that pay no real money to play. Eve has a very difficult startup due to the skillpoint based nature of the game. However I can help alleviate most of that and help you get on the way to success.
Within a week I should be logging back into the game. i will be able to log in and take care of corp leadership matters but my connection will preclude me from taking on major roles in space until I return home.
If you would like to play eve with me and my crew please post it up here so I can see what kind of following as well as what your intrest in helping run a corp would be.
For those of you interested i suggest starting your character soon as you gain skillpoints even when logged off and the head start will help you immensly when we really get going. PM me before you create your character and I will reply with tips to maximize your starting prowess.

Syvar,
I've reactivated my Eve Online account nearly a month ago. I'm currently corp-less, and plan on staying that way until i get back in September. While I'm away, my account is being maintained by a friend from the 6th. and will be building up the rest of my industry skills (getting me into an exhumer, and maxing out my refining skills) and when that's done, i'll be working into a cloaked ship for PvP aspect.
I'm not entirely certain where I will fall when I get back, but am here to support.

Is there a way of checking on your characters skills/skillpoints without resubbing and logging on? Last time I logged on was sometime in 2006.

I would caution not to be to disparaged by the numbers. This may be one of those times when we will have to recruit from within the game itself for members.
One of the ideas behind this community concept is to recruit from multiple gaming communities, our current population has no hope of sustaining any chapters which is why we must recruit from the games we decide to play. Each time we enter a new game its like creating a whole new guild from the ground up like we did with the Fifth.
It is a great challenge I know, but I feel that under Syvar's leadership an EVE chapter would be a great success. Our player pool has shrunk considerably. I give the go-ahead for a 30 day trial of the chapter. Lets see if we cant get members from the EVE community and bring them into our little family here.
@syvar; on a side note, I will test the waters once more with EVE once you think things are basically in order. Let me know.

i am also thinking about giving eve another try, one of the main reasons i stopped playing was the lack of solid people to play with, send me a pm syvar when you get the corp setup

My comment was made after a particularly long and difficult combat day. Perhaps a bit hasty and not totally called for.
No doubt a large amount of recruitment will be done in game.
Nalan, Im not sure as my accounts have always been active... Its possible that the Eve Insider section of the eve online website has your character information... but im not sure if its accessible by inactive accounts. If you happen to have your limited API key and user ID (account number not login ID) you can use a multitude of sites that can display all your info.
As far as myself in the game... Ive been working on that. It is extremely difficult for me to get a 2 gig file downloaded over here (ive tried multiple avenues)
Plus there is an expansion coming out on May 18th that introduces planetside content. This will be another large download and will be another speed bump. What I am going to do is have my wife D\L all the files after the 18th and fedex them to me on an external harddrive. currently its taking mail about a week to get here.
Once I am in the game the corp setup will only take a few days... I have checked my wallets and still have a solid 4,345,456,000.00 with which to fund a corp. To put this into perspective A decent combat cruiser will run you about 4-5 million.
Those of you looking to start new characters I greatly urge you to shoot me a PM to get some great information that will help you slingshot ahead. Have an idea of what you want your character to specialize in ( IE combat, electronic warfare, Mining, Industry, Science or even exploration) It takes a long time to be good at it all in Eve but not that long to become good in a few select areas. Darkstar Confederation (current corp name, subject to change) has plenty of tools and resources to help.

It seems you need to have an active account to check your character. I've subbed again to give it a go, and it turns out I have about 9.8 million skill points, but don't think I've specialised in any area.

Meh I am Caldari, but I have satisfactory status in Amarr space. Only 2.7 mil skill points, focused on missile combat and shield tanking.

Ha! The Gallente shoot me on sight! But they are no match for superior Amarr armor! But that is easily overcome, if you arent too worried about losing a little Galent standing.
Caldari and Amarr are allied, so you wont piss the Amarran govt off by working for Caldari. I actually play a Khanid. Khanid ships are the heat. Amarran armor tech binded with Caldari missile tech = pwnage. plus the khanid ships are blacked out which adds a good touch. Only problem is there isnt a khanid battleship...
My two favorite combat ships are the sacrelige and my damnantion command ship aka Dark Star One. That ship is nearly invincible, but my damage output is kinda low.
My corp operates mostly in the Amarr Cladari Area but I am all for other operations in other areas, as long as the corp can hold the standings for a high sec POS in Amarr space, for labs and security purposes.
And for those that like to mine I also have a decked out orca that cost me 1.2 bil to build and outfit. Makes crushing rocks a breeze.

about 10 mil is pretty good. And you are Amarr, which I am particularly fond of. Combat based or industrial? I concentrated on Gunnery, Missiles and Naviagtion, and started on Electronic warfare, my original goal was to work in recon. But now I have been working on my Industrial, Engineering and Science as I've found that recon and fighting isn't my strong suit.
